I contracted Phill Ashworth of H4 Construction last year to undertake a roofing and decking job for me. Contract value around $25000. The roof job was not too bad but is still incomplete and there was too much material purchased. Of course I had to pay for this.
The deck job is a totally different story. I paid him $6000 as a deposit (foolish move). After HUGE delays and baseless excuses from Phill, I canceled the contract in November 2007. Its March 2008 now (5 months later !!) and I have still not received my money. This guy is full of excuses !! I filed a case with the District Court and obtained a judgement by default because he failed to defend the case. I will be getting a collections agency on him now.
$6000 is a lot of money and while I am awake every night worrying about this, Phill I am sure is having a peaceful sleep. I am not sure how many more people have had the same experience as me. This has been the most stressful time of my life and I for one wish I had never ever met Phill or engaged H4.

I must admit that it has been awhile since I've been to the site.
My partner and I were thinking of having work down (an extension to our house. We don't live in Wellington of course but definitley weary of the possibility of something like this happening.
I saw you comment and was curious as to the outcome. Have you had any progress since your comment?
